Glazed Ham Steaks With Date And Pineapple Kebabs
Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS
8 ham steaks
½ tropical gold pineapple
10 fresh dates
4 spring onions
2 tsp minced ginger
1 orange
3 tblsp brown sugar or grated palm sugar

METHOD
1. Cook the ham steaks on the barbecue or in a grill pan.
2. Meanwhile, to make the kebabs, cut pineapple into 1cm slices and then cut each slice in wedges. Halve and stone dates and cut spring onions into 2cm pieces.
3. Thread the pieces of pineapple, dates and spring onion onto skewers.
4. Grill the ham steaks if wished.
5. For the glaze, cook ginger in a dash of oil in a saucepan until fragrant. Add the juice of the orange and brown or palm sugar and simmer for 3-4 minutes until reduced by half.
6. Spoon the glaze over the steaks and serve with the date and pineapple kebabs.
