Allyson's favourite recipes

Barbecue Flatbreads With Za’atar

Involve family and friends with the barbecuing of these flatbreads. Freshly made, hot off the grill, kids and adults alike will love the bread. Have a little oil and a deep bowl of za'atar for dipping and dunking. For children, serve with butter or au naturale.

Buttery Marzipan Cake

A layer of marzipan through this moist almond cake makes it particularly special. Serve warm with a light dusting of icing sugar

Lemon And Cinnamon Crème Brulee

Not quite a classic recipe, just a little less rich but still with that stained glass looking toffee crusted top. This is an adaptation from the recipe taught to me at Leith’s Cookery School in London. Serve with your favourite seasonal fruits.

Family Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding

Jean-Luc is in heaven whenever we make this pudding. It requires lashings of cream or icecream to accompany to make a really yummy family dessert.

Mum's Tomato Sauce

This is my mother’s tried and true recipe; the only change by me has been to add an onion for flavour, which can be left out. You need the ripest juiciest tomatoes for best flavour.

6 Egg White Pavlova

This pavlova contains less sugar than is usual. The sugar is folded in, not beaten, which gives the pavlova a rather dense marshmallowy centre and chewy crust.
